Breaking the fast

I've fasted for one week from blogging. (Actually - I just wanted to excuse my laziness while contributing to an increasing perception of my super-spirituality) So, yeah - I have just not been paying attention to this... My apologies to all of my faithful readers. :)

I spent more time with middle-school students in the past week than I have since I was in middle school. I taught at the retreat at Bluegrass Christian Camp this past weekend and then got to serve as lead worshipper at the mid-week program last night. It's been fun. The most enjoyable time was getting to just sit and talk with students during the meals at the retreat. The kids were a ton of fun - they had so much energy.

I got to take a walk with my daughters the other day. The older one on roller skates, the younger on her bicycle kept them at about the same pace and I was able to keep up without much trouble. I'm back to about 99% after the surgery. I still have some pain, but it's so much better. I want to get back to exercising somehow, but still have at least another week until I can "safely" do that.

Quote of the day, from my youngest daughter, "That's one big mother!" This was her comment about the huge picture she had drawn of my wife on the white-board in my office. She's so funny.

A great long day.

Yesterday I started early - heading out of the door at 6:00 am to drive to the other side of town for breakfast with my brother. It was a great time to hang out with him and his wife. Work was busy, busy, busy. We're launching a new group tonight and I had to write a lesson for the Middle School Retreat this weekend. Then, we had Richard, the gardener from Murlough in Northern Ireland, over for dinner. That was a blast! So, again, a launch tonight. The Arsenal match is set up to record at home for viewing later tonight. And a new episode of LOST tomorrow night... which could make or break the decision to continue watching it this season.

I could work for:

There are a couple of places where I so believe in the quality of their products or services that I could see myself working for them:

A Church. Good thing, huh?

The Fuji Apple Company. I don't know if there is such a company, but there is no apple better than a Fuji. It's a movement, I tell you.

Austin Cheddar Cheese Crackers. UNbelievable taste. If you've ever had bad cheese-on-cheese crackers, give these a go. See if I'm wrong.

Disney. As a character voice - not so much a values tie-in here as it is something I would just enjoy - I love doing voices for my kids when I read to them.

Back to it.

I'm getting back to it after last week's surgery. I slept on my stomach for the first time in a week last night! You may not appreciate the joy I took in that... I had lots of down time last week - watching movies, reading (not much), playing video games, and basically just chilling. With the pain meds, though, I couldn't do anything for very long - it took three days to finish Gladiator and two to finish the second half of The Kingdom of Heaven. My reading was limited to about three pages total. My new FIFA06 video game helped to break up the monotony and stave off cabin fever. I won championships in the Premier League, Der Bundesliga 1, the Spanish Primera, and the Portuguese SuperLiga. Aren't you proud of me? Anyway - thanks for all of the prayers for my recovery. I'm back to work but still experiencing some pain that I'm not sure is normal. I'm going back to visit the doc tomorrow and should find out more then. So, it's official: you have just read the long awaited post-op posting!
